The global sports industry is not like other industries, and companies that operate in this highly international and competitive environment need their managers to adapt their knowledge to the particular dynamics of this market.




In response to the specific recruitment needs of this continuously growing industry, emlyon business school successfully unites its expertise in international management with the market experience of some of the world’s major outdoor sports companies in the MSc in Sports Industry Management.


In a 16-month period (minimum) you will study management as it relates specifically to the sports business, and share the classroom with students from all over the world. Starting your studies in Paris, you will acquire the fundamentals of management in a global environment and benefit from industry-specific courses all the while learning and applying emlyon business school’s innovative and entrepreneurial early maker pedagogy. To deepen your knowledge, expertise and help you manage the specifics of the sports industry, you will also benefit from field trips to London (UK), Munich (Germany) and the French Alps throughout the first few months of the programme. After your time in Europe, where you will have the opportunity to visit companies, meet and hear from experts, and gain a special outlook on the outdoor industry, you will move on to emlyon business school’s Shanghai campus, for the “Asian Business Environment” module.

Moreover, sharing your learning experience with fellow students hailing from a multitude of cultures and nationalities will teach you how to work with and lead international teams in sports management.

Headquartered in Annecy, the Outdoor Sports Valley is an official industry cluster and trade association with the key role to federate, represent and contribute to the development of the outdoor sports industry. As OSV is the official partner of the MSc in Sports Industry Management, you benefit both from the professional expertise of OSV members as well as the professional network of this cluster.

For example, the current cohort traveled to Munich to attend the ISPO fair, an international multi-segment trade show for sports businesses, and met key global sports industry players from companies such as Intersport, Amer Sport and Jack Wolfskin. Other guest lecturers coming to share their knowledge with the students include the B2C VP of Amer Sports Group, the founder and CEO of Hoka (and ex CEO of Salomon) , the financial director of Patagonia Europe, the marketing director of Columbia Europe, and the international sales director of Millet and Eider.

Start a successful sports management career

The programme includes an internship, a fundamental stepping-stone in order to complete the programme with hands-on professional experience and start building a global network. Thanks to the support of the Careers Services as well as OSV’s international connections to the sports industry, you have all the tools you need to find the internship that will jump-start your sports management career. The previous cohorts have found internships in companies such as Puma, adidas, Salomon, Amer Sport, Decathlon and Millet, worldwide sports industry players fully preparing the students to succeed in a sports management career.
